They have a mutually beneficial symbiotic relationship with flowers which is so interesting to me. This symbiotic relationship also means pollinators need protecting, because without them, many flowering plants including foods we depend on, like tomatoes, would no longer exist. The Rusty Patched Bumblebee is an endangered bee, mostly seen in Eastern North America and is federally protected. The Alberta Native Bee Council is a non-profit organization that promotes conservation of native bee communities through research and monitoring, advocacy, and education. Each spring they run Bee Box Workshops, teaching people how to make their own bee box for your yard and how to monitor them in collaboration with their Bumble Bee Box Monitoring program.
