The Endangered Species Act was signed in 1973 and\u003cbr\u003eoutlawed alligator hunting. Southern states began developing recovery frameworks\u003cbr\u003ethat included a program that incentivized landowners to protect wetlands by\u003cbr\u003eeventually allowing them to collect wild eggs, hatch them on commercial farms, and\u003cbr\u003ereturn a percentage of healthy juvenile gators safely back to the wild.\u003cbr\u003eThe artwork was inspired by and incorporates the original vintage postal stamp. The\u003cbr\u003eartwork started with a photo transfer to art paper. I used gouache paints, gel and ink\u003cbr\u003epens, stenciled patterns, art paper, and postal photo transfers to create the finished\u003cbr\u003ecollage.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e4.5\"x 6.5\" artwork, 8\"x 10\" matte\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv dir=\"auto\"\u003e50% of the proceeds from this piece will be donated to the Nature Conservancy to support their conservation efforts.
