About the Artist

My first experience with the world of ceramics was in high school through beginning wheel classes at my local YMCA. After I graduated I moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for my undergraduate degree at Coe College. I began as a photography major for my freshman year, but after a ceramics class the following fall I knew I couldn’t return to the darkroom and keep my hands out of clay. I changed my emphasis to ceramics and began my journey to my current aesthetic and voice. My work has been displayed in galleries and includes a purchase by the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art for its permanent collection.

I am currently working out of my home studio full time to support my family. I continue to be inspired by colors and textures in the natural world- from ocean tides and coral reefs, to geological formations and patterns in rocks. It is my hope to create a world that is energetic and colorful while still staying true to the subtle beauty I see in nature.  I believe that art makes a difference in our world and I am proud to support the World Wildlife Fund with a portion of every sale.
