AJ Courtney- Butterfly Shawl

Insect populations have been declining around the world. Habitat loss, pesticides, and climate change have nearly quartered butterfly numbers in North America. I feel that loss very acutely, as someone who has grown up along the migration path of the monarch butterfly. Every few years, they swarm through my city on a multi-generational journey north. This shawl, a garment of comfort and grief, lets the wearer wrap themself in a cloud of butterflies and remember the winged lives that have been lost.

Care instructions: hand wash and let air dry. Materials are 100% acrylic. Do not expose to excessive heat.
