This functional piece is inspired by the majesty of our ocean's blue whales, which are constantly under threat because of environmental pressures caused by humans. Driven by a desire to curb potential waste, because the creation of fiber and textiles is so environmentally intensive, AJ works with second hand materials to minimize the impact of their work. The artist is drawn to whales because they are such powerful yet slow moving creatures that grow to impossibly large sizes and yet only eat the smallest of creatures, showing how vital every creature within an oceanic ecosystem is.

50% of proceeds from this bag will be donated to the Coral Reef Alliance which dedicates their time to working with oceanic ecosystems holistically, starting from the land nearby coral reefs to the open ocean surrounding those reefs.
