When you think of the California flag, you picture the iconic grizzly bear standing proudly on green grass beneath a red star and stripe, with the words California Republic boldly displayed. But what if I told you that the California grizzly is actually extinct?

That powerful image is now a reminder—a call to action. It’s up to us to protect the wildlife and wild places that remain. From the California condor and towering sequoia trees to the Palos Verdes blue butterfly, Apidae bumblebee, Picoides woodpecker, and vibrant California poppies, these natural treasures depend on our care and stewardship.

I wanted to showcase the importance and impact we have on the world around us. It is up to us to protect it. This is an original painting.
