Annabel Schoen- Great Grey Owl (Print)

Painted in ink and water, this piece captures a great grey owl mid-flight, wings fully spread and banking low: the pose these owls use to drop silently onto prey hidden under snow or grass. Great grey owls rely on exceptional low-light vision and hearing so precise they can locate rodents moving beneath a foot of snow, striking through the surface without ever seeing their target.

Proceeds from this print will go to Dr. Katherine Gura's Great Gray Owl research fund, supporting her long-term study of the species in and around Grand Teton National Park and the Jackson Hole area. Her work, done in partnership with the Teton Raptor Center, tracking how the owls move and breed in response to changing snow conditions. This data is critical for protecting a bird that's very difficult to study and increasingly affected by a shifting climate. Learn more at tetonraptorcenter.org.
