This botanical illustration of a plantain leaf transforms common parking lot weed into a subject of beauty and consideration. Plantain leaf used to be used as a medicine, which is supported by research that suggests it contains antimicrobial compounds. Its strong, deep root system makes it week and resistant to drought. It's pollinated by flies and beetles- other underappreciated participants in the ecosystem that deserve a moment of appreciation.
