The Colony began with moments of wonder along California’s coastline, where tide pools reveal intricate worlds filled with remarkable color, pattern, and life. I continue to be inspired by sea urchins, whose extraordinary geometry, quiet resilience, and essential role in the marine ecosystem remind me that nature is beautifully interconnected.

As I painted these layered forms, I found myself reflecting on the quiet relationships that allow life to flourish. The more closely we look, the more we begin to see that nothing exists in isolation. Every living thing plays a part in the health and balance of the whole.
