Since I was a toddler, my dad would always keep me grounded and close to nature. Living in the 80s, the best place for water play in Singapore would be the beaches; mine specifically would be Changi Beach. With my pink flamingo float he would bring me out to ride the waves. That was when my love for the sea was born. Even after I became a mum, we would have family picnics at the beach. As my fascination with the underwater world grew, my arts always seem to have deeper connections with marine life and coral reefs - the vital ecosystem that are essential for the health of our marine environment and the wellbeing of humans.

This year, the Art of Conservation Online Show happens to fall on Singapore 60th National Day. And coincidentally, WWF SG is campaigning for ‘Save Our Coral Reefs’, so I’m taking these as signs for me to contribute my part and to pay a tribute to my dad. So for my works, I borrowed the perseverance from the waves, the calmness of the deep, and the vibrant colours of the corals while infusing with the love of life. May my works bring peace to your soul.
