The strelitzia is also called a bird of paradise, as the flower resembles a bird in flight. It reaches higher than most plants, as it can grow up to 10 meters high! Its shape and colour is also said to attract birds.
Eagles can fly 3km high and they can reach a speed of about 190 km per hour. They have perfected the art of soaring and gliding by catching updrafts of rising warm air to gain altitude without flapping, minimalising energy usage.
In African culture, seeing a praying mantis in the home is considered a sign of good fortune.
