Missy Niemeyer- Tiger Plate

Porcelain hand-built plate.  This tiger design was created by applying three coats of black underglaze on leather-hard clay.  The design was then carved into the clay.  All the white visible lines on the tiger are the actual color of the porcelain clay underneath.  After the bisque fire (first kiln firing) clear coats of glaze were applied to the tiger and several coats of glazes were brushed on the border of the piece.  It was then fired in an electric kiln to cone 6.

This plate is food safe.  Technically it is dishwasher safe, but hand-washing is recommended for longevity.
