Missy Niemeyer- Wolf Platter

Porcelain hand-built platter with a textured border.  This wolf design was created by applying three coats of black underglaze on leather-hard clay.  The design was then carved into the clay.  All the white visible lines on the wolf are the actual color of the porcelain clay underneath.  After the bisque fire (first kiln firing) clear coats of glaze were applied to the wolf and several coats of glaze were brushed on the border of the piece.  It was then fired in an electric kiln to cone 6.

This platter is food safe.  Technically it is dishwasher safe, but hand-washing is recommended for longevity.
