This mixed media work is composed of individually dried eucalyptus leaves, each hand-painted and carefully collaged onto paper to form the image of a giraffe. The process honors both patience and intention, allowing the natural shape, vein structure, and translucency of the leaves to guide the composition rather than override it.

The giraffe—often associated with grace, perspective, and gentle strength—emerges through subtle layering and tonal variation. By working with organic materials that were once living, the piece explores the balance between fragility and endurance, impermanence and preservation. The eucalyptus leaves retain their history while being transformed into something lasting.

This work invites close viewing, where texture and detail reveal themselves slowly. It is a meditation on nature, care, and the quiet beauty that arises when natural elements are given time, attention, and space to speak.
