Buttress roots are an adaptation seen in many tropical trees—they stabilize massive trunks in shallow soils and help prevent erosion, while also supporting microhabitats for fungi, insects, amphibians, and reptiles along their surface and in the moist crevices they form. Their architectural presence is not just functional—it’s ecological infrastructure.

The White Tree is an elegant narrow vase hand-sculpted from pristine white porcelain. The vase is shaped like a tree trunk with buttress roots transforming your floral arrangements into a little blooming tree. The interior of the vase is covered with transparent high-temperature glaze.

This vase was fired in a kiln thrice at different temperatures to achieve its final look. It exists in a single version and represents a one-of-a-kind decorative object.

150 x 125 x 105 mm, the top opening - 20 mm

50% of proceeds from this vase will be donated to the Oceanopolis Aquarium.  To learn more about their work please visit https://www.oceanopolis.com/connaitre-nos-missions/conservation/acmom/

About the Artist: Captivated by the living world from early childhood, I chose a scientific career, working as a molecular biologist for over 15 years before transitioning to the path of an independent artist. Deep admiration for nature is at the core of my creative journey, where I focus on capturing the fragile and transient beauty of organic forms. Through art, I explore the intricate details of natural elements, drawing inspiration from biogenic sand grains, decayed leaves, wilted weeds, and abandoned shells. My work reflects the delicate balance of life’s fleeting existence and brings attention to the peculiar and magical organisms that inhabit our ecosystems and their interactions within the environment. Incorporating practical functions is often essential to my artistic process. I aim to create objects that are not only sculptural but also serve a purpose in everyday living, allowing them to have an interactive and personal presence. My art engages with its surroundings, inviting touch, use, and reflection, while telling stories of life’s precious fragility and the interconnectedness.
