Sara Redpath- Lavender Orpington Lidded Dish

Originally developed in England, Orpington chickens are known for their gentle temperament, rounded shape, and wonderfully soft, fluffy feathers. The Lavender variety is especially beautiful, with plumage that shifts between silver, grey, and soft lilac depending on the light.

I had a Lavender Orpington in my flock who was incredibly friendly and loved stretching out in a sunny spot for an afternoon sunbathe. This lidded dish is inspired by those summer moments with layered sunset glazes outside, while the interior is glazed in soft lilac celadon, inspired by the colours of the breed’s feathers.

Whether it’s used to hold jewelry, keepsakes, or little treasures, this piece’s joyful colours and happy hen friend will always have you smiling.

Dish dimensions 3.75” diameter outside 2.75” diameter inside, 4” tall including hen. Hen is approx 1”
