This hand-thrown ceramic bowl was made with care and quiet intention: a tribute to the
delicate resilience of the natural world. Using the sgraffito technique, I carved two
hummingbirds mid-flight, suspended in a moment of grace. These tiny creatures, often seen as symbols of hope, joy, and the lightness of being, felt like the perfect muse. Each piece is hand-thrown, so slight variations and natural imperfections in shape and symmetry are part of its unique charm.
Shari has a PhD in telecommunications and works as a system developer, but she discovered her love for pottery a year ago during a sgraffito workshop. The moment she started working with clay, she felt an instant connection. Pottery quickly became a hobby, and it’s now a meaningful part of her routine and a way to explore her love for nature and a space to keep learning and growing in a completely new way.
50% of the proceeds from this bowl will be donated to the Rideau Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. To learn more about their work please visit https://www.rideauwildlife.org/
