Terri Russell- Adelie Penguin, A Celebration

Adelie penguin, finished in a raku firing.  One of a kind, hand formed sculpture. 

I think of him as dancing with an attitude of celebration. Possibly for the upcoming season which he would have had to swim hundreds of miles to reach. He made it and he is ready and waiting.  Let the games begin. The stakes are high as all Olympians know. 

One of the best known of the penguins for their black and white tuxedo markings.   This penguin lives in the Antarctic. Small in stature they make up for it in attitude. Bold and feisty with one another and any intruder. Considered to be the inspiration for, World Penguin Day, annually observed on April 25th. Their populations are currently stable let’s help them keep it that way by supporting solutions that protect their homes and livelihoods.
