Vidhya Srijesh- The Other Phoenix

Often seen as a symbol of rebirth, beauty, and immortality, the peacock has long been compared to a living phoenix rising not from ashes, but from nature itself in brilliant color and quiet confidence.

In ;The Other Phoenix', I wanted to capture that sense of transformation and resilience that the peacock represents. Its iridescent feathers and regal presence reflect both elegance and strength, yet behind this beauty lies a species that depends deeply on healthy ecosystems of forests, grasslands, and open habitats.

While peacocks are admired across cultures, many wildlife populations globally face increasing pressure from habitat loss and human expansion. Even widely recognized species remind us that beauty in nature is never separate from its fragility.

Through this work, I celebrate not just the visual splendor of the peacock, but its role as a reminder of renewal and coexistence. 'The Other Phoenix' speaks to the idea that protecting nature allows its colors both literal and symbolic to continue rising again and again.
